High Performance for A Life I Love
Prior to my taking the Breakthrough Technology Course, life was really very
good. I was a sales person for foreign insurance. As a sales person I produced
great results and in a company that was primarily men, I was the first female
sales person in my branch!
While life was good, I struggled and worked hard everyday, without taking days
off. I was always saying to myself “I’ve got to do my best to meet my boss’s
expectations!”. I woke up in the morning and went back to my office. It seemed
that was all that I did at that time. I thought, “ … If someone tries hard
enough, there will be a reward.” This overwork led to only acceptable results
when I was burned out from the lack of sleep.
What I saw about myself in the course was that I did not want to be seen as
persistent, or worse, pushy. I didn’t want to appear as a saleswoman who only
cared about getting the contract signed. I saw how I was so driven by the need
to look good by others. Instead of making an appointment about insurance I
invited people by saying something like, “Why don’t we have a tea together?” And
once I did it this way, we would have great tea together, but then it was just
impossible for me to bring up any conversation about the insurance at all. I
felt so trapped and frustrated.
I remember how shocked I was to see myself in this revealing view. To see what
was behind what I did and did not do. Once I saw this, I got all the freedom to
tell the truth, and a huge stress about my work vanished instantly. As a result,
the style of my sales and my conversation has dramatically changed.
A year after I did the Breakthrough Technology Course, I had doubled my sales
performance from 40% contract-ratio to 80%. The 20% was when people declined my
offer. Now I am not afraid of people saying no to my offer. But even in this
case I said, “Thank you so much for listening to me.” And I was not just saying
that. I meant this with the feeling of appreciation from my heart. Indeed I am
very surprised by how honest and truthful I am these days.
Before the breakthrough, it took me 5 or 6 appointments to get one contract. Now
with straight conversations, I get one contract with only 2 or 3 appointments.
It took 50 hours to get 10 contracts before, but now it takes only 30 hours. So,
now I have more free time for outside interests and what I love most is the big
jump in productivity.
In addition, I have become more effective communicating with people and have
created wonderful relationships with my customers. I enjoy my customers,
friends, family, hobbies and many other things that had been missing before. I
can enjoy my life regardless of “job” or “play”.
Out of the tools I got in the Breakthrough Technology Course, my career got
better I was commended by the company and won the “President Cup”. And this year
my success continues as I won the 7th prize company-wise in the first quarter
and the first prize for the first and second year employees. I was one of the
only 10 people who won the special prize of traveling to Switzerland. I am
grateful to Landmark Education because I am having so much fun and look forward
to the future.
